Greater Every Run

Project Background

Sarah Chatfield's film for Adidas still looks as fresh and stylish as the day it was released. Her vision was one of bold simplicity, hero’ing the poise and power of the sports brand icon through a stripped-back aesthetic, set amidst a striking architectural environment.

Our goal was to elevate the treatment into something eye-catching while preserving the purity of the concept. We focused on sourcing images that were minimalist but graphic, with backdrops that were bold yet held within uncluttered compositions, drawing attention to human motion and structural grandeur. By blending stark architectural geometry with raw human motion, the visual direction established an atmosphere that was both grounded and aspirational. Sports photography helped us bring a more editorial edge to the visuals, while cinematic references of athleticism captured the dynamism at the core of the film. We meticulously curated high-contrast imagery where precise studio lighting isolated every muscle flex, harmonising the raw energy of high-speed movement with concrete forms.

The final film, lensed by legendary cinematographer Paul Laufer, captures runners in a graphic style that brings every single frame to life. Laufer’s deliberate camera sweeps and fluid framing turn simple strides into living fine art, echoing the rhythmic precision of high-fashion editorials. Paired with this seamless camera work, every slice of light and shadow feels intentionally calculated to amplify the natural momentum of the athletes, transforming a traditional commercial shoot into a kinetic gallery piece.

The craftsmanship here is inspiring stuff, and while the research phase was an absolute sprint, this project is a brilliant testament to the fact that a stripped-back approach can still make a massive impact. It remains an enduring masterclass in creative restraint, proving that minimal visuals often pack the loudest punch and leave a lasting mark long after the final cut fades to black.
