Finding Liverpool

Project Background

Anomaly tapped our studio to source and license footage for a number of Expedia campaigns centred around football, including the Finding Liverpool series, which explored the international pull of the iconic club.

Archival footage is an often underappreciated ingredient in moving image projects. From corporate brand films to TV adverts and Hollywood cinema, productions frequently turn to archival material to augment or expand their vision. The tricky part is sourcing capture with the quality to pass as original film—and that was exactly our mission for Expedia. We avoided generic, sterile stock clips, tracking down hyper-specific football moments and locations instead. The licensed footage needed to be virtually indistinguishable from the primary unit's capture, ensuring the narrative flow remained unbroken.

Footage Research

Client

Diving deep into niche global networks and independent creator libraries, we filtered through thousands of clips to unearth rare, lightning-in-a-bottle moments that carried genuine emotional weight and cultural accuracy. This extensive search necessitated a meticulous curation process, allowing us to document, approve, and eliminate footage within a collaborative, shared workspace.

Ultimately, the sourced footage fit so seamlessly into the Expedia series that it was virtually indistinguishable from the primary camera capture. Together, they created an authentic reportage feel that painted a detailed picture of the global culture surrounding the club. It’s a proud reminder of how stock footage, when elevated with the right creative vision, can tie an entire story together.
