Rebuild the World

Project Background

The lack of rules is one of the unique things that sets kids' imaginations ablaze when it comes to LEGO. This idea guided the entire project, helmed by the brilliant Traktor. Our team was brought in to help conceptualise a visual world that could constantly shift, tear itself down and rebuild on the fly, following the whims of a young storyteller.

Striking the perfect balance between a wild mash-up of genres and real-world playtime required an extensive research phase, merging naturalistic everyday with surreal live-action moments and iconic fictional characters. Paired together, these juxtaposing visual languages illustrate children's innate ability to transform the most mundane, everyday scenarios into epic, playful adventures. This kinetic, playful energy demanded a tight synergy with the edit, and our team set out to make sure that every match cut and transition featured in the deck felt like a spontaneous decision made on a bedroom floor.

The treatment itself embraced the chaos with a beautifully bold aesthetic. To bring the fluid nature of a child's play to life, the design language relied on a vivid colour palette and playful typefaces, with a unique title treatment for each script to give a sense of childhood individuality. Tactile textures and playful accents were layered throughout, reinforcing the feeling that these worlds were constructed directly by young, energetic hands.

As always, Traktor delivers in the finished campaign, drawing on their trademark blend of premium visual effects and a keen eye for visual humour. The balance is pitch-perfect for LEGO, proving as inspiring for adults as it is for kids and earning plaudits from all sides on release. Ultimately, the campaign stands as a joyful celebration of pure, uninhibited creativity, capturing the boundless imaginative spirt of childhood and reminding audiences worldwide that with a single plastic brick, anything is possible.
