Project Background

We had great fun working with director Oskar Bård on two more adventures in the world of Dairylea Lunchables. This time he was blowing the doors off with an epic invasion movie homage, and our studio was happy to help him take the bite out of some super snackable monsters.

This was a treatment that needed to embody the sort of chaotic freedom that exists in every child’s imagination - the kind that can turn a dinner table setup into a metropolitan city and a delicious pack of Lunchables into a fire breathing hippopotamus. At the same time, our visuals needed to showcase the cinematic scale of Oskar’s vision, using classic sci-fi and monster movie references with big-budget effects and lots of extras. The design itself needed to counteract the typical seriousness associated with those genres, injecting childlike playfulness through Lunchables’ vibrant brand colours and utilising typefaces that featured the friendly curvature of comic book headlines.

The final campaign is a standout for our studio, not just because it was a lot of fun to treat, but because we all had a great time spotting the iconic film moments we’d painstakingly researched, developed and saw Oskar parody to spectacular effect.
