When director Nicolina Knapp approached us to assist with the visuals and treatment design for this WhatsApp campaign, the main objective was to make digital privacy features feel deeply human and emotionally resonant. The scripts centered on the utility of these privacy tools within everyday life and relationships, meaning we needed to ground the concept in authentic, domestic moments. The project demanded highly specific casting references that were culturally accurate for each story and scripted UI moments that didn’t exist in raw imagery.

To build the visual world, we focused our research on a cinematic but intimate aesthetic, leaning heavily into natural lighting and tender slice-of-life snapshots. We undertook some image compositing to integrate the specific phone UI moments directly into the scenes, ensuring the technology felt like a natural extension of the environment. For the deck itself, we chose an understated design that featured expansive, full-screen layouts, allowing the imagery to speak for itself. Green accents honoured the WhatsApp branding, while pairing classic and contemporary font styles helped to illustrate the integration of technology into family life.
By blending thoughtful art direction with wholesome, intentional design, we created a deck that clearly communicated Nicolina’s vision, framing technology as a natural, protective part of human connection. It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate on such a meaningful project, and we love that it set the stage for these relatable stories to be captured.
